How Does It Work When I Come to the Pantry?

To get food at the Good Shepherd Food Pantry in Bertie County, you need visit, email, or call the pantry to find the designated distribution hours and provide proof of residency to receive a prepackaged box of groceries containing local farm fresh fruits & vegetables, meats, non-perishable canned goods, juices and pastries and bread items.

Key points about accessing a Good Shepherd Food Pantry:

Elegibility Verification:

We require individuals to verify they are a Bertie County resident. Often times they would need to show their utility bills or a piece of mail address to them at their address.

Distribution Hours:

We have a set date of every 2nd and 3rd Saturday, for food distribution as well as, the Wednesday & Thursday between both Saturdays. If you wish to have more information, please call using the number below.

Registration Process:

For you to receive services from Good Shepherd Food Pantry you need to provide some personal information and details about your household size.

We try our best to give a variety of food items to complete meal nutrition. Most of the items we give are local farm fresh fruits & vegetables, meats, non-perishable canned goods, juices, and pastries/bread items.

Available Foods

Food Plate Sample

With the usage and sample of the food plate that was issued by the USDA, we can properly portion the food and other necessities, like non-perishable canned goods, juices, and pastries and bread items. Here we have an establish list of the different food items that we give during our distribution hours.

Fruits & Vegetables

We have a variety of nutritious fruits varying from strawberries, tomatoes, squash, leafy greens, potatoes, peaches, peppers, and much more. Each one these fruit and vegetables, that are presented during distribution, is filled with vital nutrients. 

Meats

We are committed to serving our community by providing food assistance to those in need. We offer a variety of meats for the communities to have when, they need to give their families food that will fill their tables.

Non-perishable canned food

We give as much non-perishable canned food items possible for the community to have. From Canned vegetables, canned beans, dry fruit, dry cereal, and other canned items.

Juices

We are always finding ways to help the families in Bertie county. We offer different types of canned juices, bottled juices, and bottles of water.

Pastries & Bread Items

We give pastries/bread items like, bagels, flat while bread, flat wheat bread, and any baked goods to the families who are in need alongside of the other foods that we give to them.
